Anantharam Varayur, co-founder of Manasum Senior Living homes speaks to E Jayashree Kurup about the trends in senior living now and why sorting out long-term financial options are so important in the category.

Manasum Senior Living homes is taking shape at a fast pace in India. By 2050 UNFPA estimates that India will have over 347 million people above the age of 60. Anuj Puri, Chairman, Anarock Property Consultants estimates that the proportion of seniors in the population would grow from 7.5% in 2001 to over 12.5% in 2026.

Anantharam Varayur, co-founder of Manasum Homes, has three projects under his management currently. “One is in Jigani in South Bengaluru with about 110 units. Another is an intergenerational project in the 13-acre Godrej Royal Wood, 7-8 minutes away from Bengaluru airport. One tower of 191 apartments is dedicated to senior living. The third project is in Goa, about 10 km from Panjim, with 40 units on about 7.5 acres of land.”
